Information for International students
We are informed that some of you have come up with a final decision to leave for your countries. Find below information, which concerns your studies.
Attending the classes
As you know face-to-face teaching has been suspended and the university makes sure you can access any sessions remotely. The general rule is that if a session takes place, you should engage with it.
These arrangements (distance learning) apply until the end of State of Emergency. After that, based on the decision of the government of Armenia, the university will review and come up with new decision about the further studies. Poor attendance or failure to engage with your distance programme could lead to you being withdrawn from the University.
If you are unable to engage with your studies because of issues relating to Covid-19 (coronavirus), you should let your department know and they can then make sure any absences are recorded as “authorized”. This includes absences because you are unwell with Covid-19, a family member is unwell or you cannot take part in certain sessions because you are travelling home (for all the cases you should provide legal document).
Leaving Armenia
We know there are a lot of concerns about your ability to return to the Armenia at a later date if you return to your home country now. We should inform that as soon as there is a decision to resume the face to face classes, you should be in Armenia no later than 10 days after the studies (requirement of the Embassy of Iraq). In case of later return, the scholarships will be annulled (if the student is awarded) and the case will be reported to the Embassy for further consideration. You will also loose the marks for the presence and participation, which will decrease your grade per subject.
We have a legal obligation in relation to your visa and your wellbeing, so it is important for us to know where you are. Please let us know if you are leaving Armenia, sending information to info@eiu.am and CC mary.shahbazyan@eiu.am. You should send a signed application with the attached template (may be handwritten, no need to print). Click HERE
Continuing your studies
We inform that the university will arrange the mid-term exam remotely. The final exam will be arranged when the face to face classes are resumed. In case if the state of emergency is not over during the final exam period, the university will move the final exam period to a later date. The final decision about the exact period of the final exams will be announced later, when the situation concerning COVID-19 is clear and there is precise information about the permanent end of State of Emergency.
For the students in the preparatory department, we inform, that you are not yet admitted to the university and the admission exams will be arrange later, when the state of Emergency is over. The concrete dates of entrance exams will be sent later.
Grading
We inform that the Quality Assurance Department of the university is currently redesigning the regulations of the Exam organization and grading adjusting to specific needs of the current situation and uncertainties. The complete version of the regulations will be sent shortly.
