Discovering Estonian Education System and Best Practices
From March 24 to 30, 2019 Arevik Ohanyan, the head of the EIU Quality Assurance Center, was in Estonia in the framework of the “Sharing the Best Practices of Estonian Education” Program funded by the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ means of Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid and implemented by the INNOVE Foundation. During the visit, the Armenian delegation had the opportunity to visit the Ministry of Education and Research, as well as various foundations affiliated with the Ministry: these visits were fruitful for exploring the national strategies, priorities and policies. The delegation also visited a kindergarten, schools, universities, as well as a vocational institution and learnt about the best practices. It is worth mentioning, that Estonia has recently become a successful role model in education worldwide. According to the 2015 results of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), Estonia was ranked 1st in Europe and 3rd in the world. The “Sharing the Best Practices of Estonian Education” Program is aimed at sharing the know-how and offers insights that might inspire and help other countries in improving their education systems.
During the week long program the delegation also had an opportunity to visit Tallinn University of Technology and Tartu University, where Ms. Ohanyan discussed cooperation perspectives and, in particular, opportunities of exchange programs implementation.
